Laurier Brantford's Extramural Hockey Teams took to the ice last Friday, February 28th, in the 2024-25 RECCup regional qualfiers, hosted right here in Brantford at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.
Their goal was simple, a 1st-place tournament finish meant a birth in the 2025 RECCup tournament, hosted this year by La Cite in Ottawa.Â
The scores from the day were as follows:
Men:Â
3-1 L vs Fanshawe
4-1 L vs HumberÂ
Semi-Final:
2-1 SOL vs Fanshawe
Women:
4-0 L vs Fanshawe
5-2 L vs Humber
Semi-Final:
6-0 L vs Fanshawe
Highlights from the day included
Lorna Rynard finding the back of the net once again for the women's team,
Benjamin Manser-Sachs scoring his first goal in a Laurier uniform, and
Lincoln Humphris tying the game in the semi-finals with less than a minute to go for the men's team.
While neither team moved on to the 2025 RECCup, both teams left the day with their heads held high in a tremendous day of hard work to wrap up the season. The hockey teams now have their sights set on next year to build off what was learned this season, and to continue representing their school proudly.
