Last Friday, Laurier Brantford's Men's Extramural Basketball team opened their season at Humber North Athletic Centre. In a day full of dunks, deep three-pointers, and a tremendous show of effort, the boys finished the day with a solid 2-2 record.
The Golden Hawks opened their day with a tight 51-47 win over George Brown, before coming up just short against Humber College in game 2, falling 48-30. In their third game of the day, Laurier overcame a two-point deficit at halftime to take down Conestoga College with a statement 44-36 win.
Their 2-1 record qualified the team for a spot in the consolation final, where they took on George Brown in a rematch of their opening game of the day. Despite being tied at halftime, and only down three points at the start of the fourth quarter, Laurier was unable to hold off the Huskies, coming up short 63-45.
Despite the loss, the Golden Hawks made the school proud once again, and look to build off their opening tournament in their next event, which will take place January 17th at UTM.
