BRANTFORD, Ont. – This past weekend, Laurier Brantford Athletics & Recreation was proud and excited to partner with Laurier Alumni to host Brantford's 2^nd annual Alumni Basketball Game.

We welcomed back a team of Alumni Extramural basketball players to play our current 2023 Extramural Men's Basketball team. From the moment of tip off to the nail-biting final seconds of the game, the energy in the Hawk Dome gymnasium was unmatched. The entire game was a well-balanced challenge of old vs new, showing that the Golden Hawk spirit never does leave your blood even once you hang up the jersey!

Last year our current Extramural Men's Basketball team took the win with a 57-56 finish over the Alumni team. This year, our Alumni players came to steal it. With a 37-27 lead at half time, we knew that this was going to be a close game. The final minutes were consumed with foul shots and high-pressured plays. The Alumni team took every opportunity they could to stay a few points ahead, and it paid off. Final score of the game was 62-56 for our returning Alumni team!

Our Alumni team was made up of a variety of past Golden Hawks, dating as far back as our 2012 team. They took to the court as though they never left it, showcasing what it truly means to be a Golden Hawk. Top Alumni scorers of the game include #7 Mason Klievik with 14 points, #21 Oje Izirein with 11 points and #5 Junior Oteng with 9 points. Top Extramural scorers of the game include #6 Jamie Kirsch with 10 points, #11 Devanye Afriyie with 10 points and #8 May Moneey with 8 points.
