Last Saturday, October 4th, Laurier Brantford's Varsity Cross Country teams opened their seasons at the Fanshawe Invitational Race.
Despite the grueling hot weather the runners had to endure, it was a successful race for the Golden Hawk runners.
Mya Baxter was the lone representative of the women's team, but finished in 25th place with a strong time of 29:42 on the 6K course.
On the men's side,
Kirby Blackman paced the men's team with a 21st place finish, earning a time of 29:46 on the 8K course. Rookie
David Uzosike came in 50th place, earning a strong time of 34:18 in his first-ever race for the Laurier Brantford team. Meanwhile,Â
Todd Pearson finished in 59th place with a strong time of 38:28, never losing his signature smile over the entire race.
The Golden Hawks will head off to Mohawk College for their next race of the season, which will take place this upcoming Saturday, October 11th.
