KING, ON- Laurier Brantford's Varsity Cross Country team took on the 2024 OCAA Provincials yesterday in their biggest race of the year.
Hosted by at Seneca's King Campus, the second time our runners competed on this course this season, how did our athletes fare this time around?
On the women's team,
Kennedy Finch led the way once again, finishing the 6km course with a time of 29:11 and taking 25th overall, improving her time by over 30 seconds from the last race at Seneca. Following was
Mya Baxter, who took 42nd place with a time of 32:39, almost a minute faster than her last race on the same course. Not far behind was
Lauren Kuivenhoven who took 48th place with a time of 34:25.
Isabel Uribe Perez took 54th place with a time of 36:13, and
Dhruti Yadav took 58th, earning a time of 39:28, which was a PB on the Seneca course.
On the men's side,
Jackson Rice paced the team with a 18th place finish and a time of 30:01, improving his previous time by almost a full minute and a half.
Ayden Carr took 37th place with a time of 32:36, over a minute faster than his last race at Seneca.
Kirby Blackman followed in 44th place with a time of 34:24, earning a personal best by almost four minutes.
Jagdeep Singh finished in 57th place with a time of 36:33, almost three minutes faster than his previous outing on the same course.
Ethan Firsoff took 63rd place with a time of 37:35, and
Todd Pearson finished in 67th, earning a time of 38:10, another personal best time on the Seneca course.
It was a day full of strong performances and plenty of personal best races for the Golden Hawk athletes.
The team made Laurier proud all season and capped it off with one of their best showings of the year at Provincials.
