Laurier Athletics and Recreation - Brantford Campus

QR code mandate

General

Enhanced Vaccination QR code now required

As of January 4, 2022, the Ontario government has mandated that all Ontario citizens are required to use their enhanced vaccine certificate (with an official QR code), to enter facilities used for sports and recreation fitness activities, including where spectators watch events. Vaccine receipts without an official QR code will no longer be accepted as valid proof of vaccination. The SAFEHawk vaccine passport will no longer be valid as proof of vaccination within the Laurier Brantford YMCA.

Issued exemptions must meet the provincial requirements, which only covers medical exemptions processed through the government website. This means that Laurier issued exemptions that have been granted based on religious or other Ontario Human Rights Code-based exemptions will not apply to sport and recreation facilities on the Laurier campus (i.e. Laurier Brantford YMCA).

Individuals who received their vaccinations outside of Ontario must contact Brant County Public Health to register their doses and obtain an enhanced vaccination QR code (processing time is approximately 5 business days).

To obtain your Ontario issued enhanced vaccine certificate with the official QR code, visit https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/. To register vaccinations received outside of Ontario, contact Brant County Public Health at 519 753 4937 to obtain your enhanced vaccine certificate (with an official QR code). Approved medical exemptions will be provided with an enhanced vaccine certificate (with an official QR code) from the Ontario portal.

Access into the Laurier Brantford YMCA will not be permitted without the official QR code. All other public health measures (e.g., masking and physical distancing) continue to apply.

To gain access into the Laurier Brantford YMCA, please be prepared to show:
  • Proof of government issued identification
  • Ontario issued enhanced vaccine certificate (with an official QR code)
  • Daily COVID-19 Self Assessment via the SAFEHawk app (students, faculty/staff) or Visitors COVID-19 Screening Assessment (community members, rental groups)
  • Confirmed reservation (fitness centre, group exercise, lane swim, etc.)
