The Laurier Brantford Department of Athletics and Recreation celebrated the 2024/25 Golden Hawks season on Friday, April 4
th at the 10
th annual Athletics & Recreation Awards Banquet. With the help of student emcees Matthew Chiu and Mitchell Hartman, we recognized our Varsity, Extramural and Sport Club athletes before wrapping up the night with Major Department awards.
VARSITY AWARDS
The Rookie of the Year Award is given annually to an athlete in their first year of sport, as voted by the players and coaches. They have contributed to the team not only as a player but also as a teammate, maintaining a positive attitude towards other team members and coaches.

The Most Valuable Player Award is awarded to any player on the team as voted by the players and coaches. The winner will have had the largest positive impact on the team on and off the playing field. Winning this award should encompass dedication to the team, putting teammates and coaches first, maximum effort at the player's position and contribution to the team being victorious.

Outstanding Official Achievement Award is given annually to an official who best displayed commitment, on-going dedication and professionalism to the Intramural program. This year's recipient was intramural official,
Ahmed Shaikh.
The
Coach of the Year Award is given annually in recognition of a coach that goes above and beyond to provide physical and mental support for their student-athletes. This year's recipient was Extramural Women's Hockey Coaches,
Shannon Macculloch and Claire Arabski.
The
Dedication to Recreation Award of Excellence is presented annually to a student that has contributed most to the success of the Athletics & Recreation Department. This year's recipient was Media Team Photographer,
Serena Anagbe.
The
Golden Hawk of the Year Award is presented annually in recognition of a student who provides an outstanding administrative contribution to the Athletics & Recreation Department. This year's recipient was Sports Club Student Leader,
Karlee Comer.
It was a great night celebrating all of the outstanding achievements our Golden Hawks have made in 2024/25!
