LBYMCA Fitness Equipment Refresh

Student Life Levy, WLU, and YMCA make major contribution

Another school year is well underway, Golden Hawks!

If it hasn't been noticed already, our very own LBYMCA has featured some major upgrades when it comes to its fitness machines. After opening its doors in 2018, the Laurier Brantford YMCA has been well used and as a result, some of the more popular equipment was due for a refresh.

Funded through the combined contributions of the YMCA's "Refresh my Y" fees, Wilfrid Laurier University, and the generous supports of the students through the Student Life Levy, the LBYMCA saw over $120,000 in new equipment added over the summer.

"So many students rely on our facility to support their passion of fitness, their need to support physical and mental wellbeing," comments Kristin Fernandes, Manager of Interuniversity Sport and Recreation. "Our equipment is in need to be refreshed and updated so that the students have the equipment they need and in proper working order. Also looking to stay up to date with trends and have some new pieces of equipment that is now seen in many other fitness facilities. Staying up to date with our equipment will continue to support students fitness needs and maintain a positive fitness experience in our facility."

Among the new equipment added was a brand new chest press machine, shoulder press machine, glute drive machine, and much more than can be used right here at the LBYMCA.

Another special thank you to the Student Life Levy, as these upgrades would not have been possible without them.

We hope you come check them out for yourselves Golden Hawks!
